“We meet to give thanks for the past, to revive the charism in the present moment, and to project ourselves into the future with hope, with a desire also to conclude the Jubilar Year, giving thanks together for the Verbum Dei Missionary Family.” “But you are a chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a personal possession to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9) What does God expect from us, the Verbum Dei Missionary Family, in this new time? I believe that his greatest desire is that we bear abundant fruit that lasts (cf. Jn 15:16), obeying what Jaime Bonet considers to be the supreme commandment of the Risen Jesus: “Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.” (Mt 28: 19-2). It is not the time to look at one another without lifting our gaze and contemplate the field, which is ready for the harvest (Jn 4:35); “not only do we feel obligated to preach the Gospel – said Jaime in the Synod of Bishops – but also to form preachers, disciples who in turn form other disciples who are capable of preaching the Gospel of Jesus throughout the world.” May Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, help us, so that each member of the Verbum Dei Missionary Family dedicates him/herself, with Jesus, to set the world on fire (cf. Lk 12:50). A warm embrace to all in the joy of Resurrection. United in prayer and mission, Lucía Aurora Herrerías Guerra. VDMF President. Update: See a video on the preparation for the event.
