Theme for the month: Our Missionary intentionality in our organizing. General Objective of the month: To help in the development of our Family and sustain our Family. Each member is important and have a place. For this reason, we are called to help each one to find his/her place of collaboration. September 22-28, 2014 Objective of the week: To learn from Jesus’ missionary perspective and be awakened of the urgency to help each other collaborate in the mission.
IntroductionWe have been praying last week on the invitation of Jesus on how we can share in His missionary perspective so that people may find their own place in the Kingdom of God through our self-giving. This week, we are invited to learn from Jesus’ missionary perspective and be awakened of the urgency to help each other collaborate in the mission. It is His desire that all His people should have the Gospel preached to them. There are a lot of people who live in ignorance and poverty because of not recognizing the grace of God that is ready to overflow if only they welcome Jesus in their lives. This is the very reason why we should share in Jesus’ mission to bring the enlightenment that comes from knowing the truth about Him and to bring them the true riches of knowing Christ. DYNAMISM OF THE WORD MondayI am built on the Foundation of the Apostles and ProphetsConsequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his households, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. (Ephesians 2:19-21) To be servant of Jesus Christ, and a missionary disciple, is the highest calling a man or woman can attain. We are part of God’s family and we have the same privilege with those of the first apostles and those that are ahead of us in the mission, in building His kingdom here on earth. We are part of the body of Christ, with Him as the head. We are counted by God to work with Him in drawing the people closer to Him so that they may find their place in the body of Christ and in turn will also do the same. Do you recognize your place in the body of Christ? How can you help build His Kingdom today? TuesdayThe Missionary IntentionalityThe missionary intentionality at the service of the Word is expressed in different ways, each one living the mission from their specific vocation, with their capacities and talents, sensitivity and possibility, integrating themselves in the social media where the members of the VDMFa find themselves. (VDMFa Statutes # 39) There is no specific qualification and standard except for our love for Jesus in living out the mission. In the particular place and the kind of work that we have, we can preach the Gospel. God is so good that in the modernization of this world, He gave us ways to make our preaching easier and convenient with the aid of social media. Such facility is a gift from God so that His Words may reach many people in the whole world in just a short span of time. Let us not allow this gift to be used to spread evil but instead of His goodness. Are you using the social media as a gift to spread Jesus’ love or just for self recognition? How can you make the most out of this gift to carry out the mission? WednesdayMissionary RenewalToday, the Church seeks to experience a profound missionary renewal; there is a kind of preaching which falls to each of us as a daily responsibility. It has to do with bringing the Gospel to the people we meet, whether they be our neighbors or complete strangers. This is the informal preaching which takes place in the middle of a conversation, something along the lines of what a missionary does when visiting a home. Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly and in any place; on the street, in a city square, during work, on a journey. (Evangelii Gaudium #127) In what way are you called to preach today? Are you humble enough to set aside your own standard and be more creative in bringing the Gospel to others? ThursdayBe a Blessing10 Anyone who is trustworthy in little things is trustworthy in great; anyone who is dishonest in little things is dishonest in great. 11 If then you are not trustworthy with money, that tainted thing, who will trust you with genuine riches? 12 And if you are not trustworthy with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own? 13 'No servant can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or be attached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.' (Luke 16:10-13) God blessed us with both material and spiritual riches in order that we may also be a blessing to others. These riches that are entrusted to us are not to be accumulated in ourselves but to share them to others. It is our love for Christ that motivates us to share these riches, just as it’s the love of Christ to us that caused Him to give His all. There is an immediate invitation for us to share these riches so that others may also recognize their blessings and be a blessing to others too. In what particular way can you be a blessing to others? What motivates you to share or not to share your riches? How can you use your riches in carrying out the mission? FridayKeep your lamp burning Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamp burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline on the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Peter asked, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?” The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for those servants whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. (Luke 12: 35-44) Anywhere and anytime, let us be ready to share Jesus’ love to others. Let us be faithful to the task that God has given us so that when we are asked to give an account of what we have done in our mission, we can present to Him the people that we have evangelized. Are you ready to face Jesus and present your catch? How can you keep your lamp burning to give light to those who are in the dark? SaturdayThe Harvest is Plentiful… I Am Sent After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. When you enter a house, first say, “Peace to this house”. If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the workers deserves its wages. Do not move around from house to house. When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you”. (Luke 10:1-9) There is an urgency to help each other in the collaboration of the mission. There is so much work to be done in the world of today. There are more agents of beauty products, gadgets, real state, and other vanities in this world than agents of the Word of God and promoters of His kingdom. Very few are making His Words known to all. This is the very reason why people who are lost in the dark are getting larger in number and younger in age, and there are just few committed workers to bring light to them. If we don’t get involved in saving this generation of today, what will happen to the generation of tomorrow? As baptized people, we are responsible for the security and salvation of our brothers and sisters. Let us get involved in the harvest, with the hope that our children of today and the generations to come will live in a peaceful world where they experience only the unlimited love of God. Are you willing to be sent into His harvest field? How can you bring more workers? In what particular harvest field are you sent to? Sunday26th Sunday in Ordinary Time 1st Reading: Ezekiel 18:25-28
