I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. (c.f. Apostle's Creed) The Unity in the Verbum Dei Family in God the Father Sept. 9-15, 2013 Objective of the Week: To grow in our desire of knowing more the Father's love for us and for all his children.
IntroductionThis week, we enter in the source of our unity: the Holy Trinity. This week we are invited to enter in a deeper experience of our faith; to know who God is, in whom we believe, who sustains us, who creates us, who provides us all what we need, who want us in the same unity, like Him. The Unity in the Verbum Dei Family in God the Father We come into this intimate relationship with God, to whom we call ‘Father’, who cares for us, who is waiting for us at the door of the house, who knows our deepest need. It is in this intimate relationship where He introduces us in who we are called to be: His sons and daughters. We are not orphans, who do not know from who we come from. The more we live in this filial relation with God the Father, the more we know the greatness of our own selves. What is your experience of God the Father? What is the face of God in you? What is the experience that you have during these years? What an assurance when we recognize that in all the experiences of our life, we have a God that is Almighty, that HE IS GOD. Thus we have the fruits of security and confidence; when we recognize that nothing is out of His hands, that is, if we have faith to distinguish in every situation that He is sustaining us as a Father. The face of God the Father is a person who journeys with us. He provides all what we need for our journey. We lack nothing because He gives us all what is necessary. He is the Father that is with us, working in every moment, in every circumstance. He is a Father who trusts us as His sons and daughters. We have peace knowing that that HE IS MY FATHER and “He will provide all what I need”. This is the attitude of a real child of God: who believes and have confidence in His father. And even in the moments when we experience the brokenness of our life for the situations and consequences of our sins, the guarantee of His mercy is always there, “love that never changes”. "By calling God "Father" the language of faith indicates two main things: that God is the first origin of everything and transcendent authority; and that He is at the same time goodness and loving care for all his children…”(CCC 239) So, let us grow in this experience of God the Father. Let us grow in our desire to know Him more and more, to enter in a deeper experience of trust and confidence of a child with His father. Let us be open to this experience that goes beyond of what I know. MondayThe Almighty God"The Holy Scriptures repeatedly confesses the universal power of God. He is called the “Mighty One of Jacob", the "LORD of hosts", the strong and mighty" one. If God is almighty “in heaven and on earth", it is because he made them. Nothing is impossible with God, who disposes his works according to his will. He is the LORD of the universe, whose order he established and which remains wholly subject to him and at his disposal. He is master of history, governing hearts and events in keeping with his will, “It is always in your power to show great strength, and who can withstand the strength of your arm?" (CCC 269) Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. 2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild,8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.9 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8) Recognize that He is the Alpha and the Omega. Time and space is at HIS command. You are in good hands if the Almighty GOD is your LORD for "nothing is impossible with GOD." TuesdayGod is a Provider Father "Do not worry and say: What are we going to eat? What are we going to drink? Or: what shall we wear? The pagans busy themselves with such things: but your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Set your heart first on the kingdom and justice of God and all these things will also be given to you. Do not worries about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself." (Matthew 6: 31-34) "And so I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be given to you. Even you evil people know how to give good gifts to your children; how much more then will the Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him." (Luke 11: 9, 13) As you go about your daily duties and challenges, do you trust in God Provider to guide, provide and bless you in the process? Pray for an increase in faith and trust in the LORD today. WednesdayHis care as Father and Mother "By calling God "Father" the language of faith indicates two main things: that God is the first origin of everything and transcendent authority; and that He is at the same time goodness and loving care for all his children. God's parental tenderness can also be expresses by the image of motherhood, which emphasizes God's immanence, the intimacy between creator and creature. The language of faith thus draws on the human experience of God for man. But this experience also tells us that human parents are fallible and can disfigure the face of fatherhood and motherhood we ought therefore to recall that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes. He is neither man nor woman: he is God. He also transcends human fatherhood and motherhood, although he is their origin and standard no one is father as God is Father. (CCC 239) 14 But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” 15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! (Isaiah 49:13-15) We are made for God and we belong to HIM. The care of God as the love of a mother or father is always for us, even when we struggle and experience pain in our journey. Seek for his patience and endurance as you continue to travel the narrow road. Ponder on how to live your life today inside the house and care of the Father. ThursdayMerciful Father "The Lord is gracious and merciful, abounding in love and slow to anger; he will not always scold nor will he be angry forever. He does not treat us according to our sins, nor does he punish us as we deserve. As the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his love for his faithful; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove the sins of his people." (Psalm 103: 8-11) "God shows forth his almighty power by converting us from our sins and restoring us to his friendship by grace. God, you show your almighty power above all in your mercy and forgiveness." (CCC 277) God has continuously extended his mercy and forgiveness to us through the. As we are made in the image and likeness of God, we need to spread a scent of mercy and tolerance to the shortcoming of others. Pray for the grace to be able show mercy and forgiveness to others today. FridayAlmighty Potter "People of Israel, am I not able to do with you what this potter does? As clay in the hand of the potter so are you in my hands." (Jeremiah 18:6) "God is the sovereign master of HIS plan. But to carry it out he also makes use of his creatures' co-operation. This use is not a sign of weakness, but rather a token of Almighty God's greatness and goodness. For God grants his creatures not only their existence, but also the dignity of acting on their own, of being causes and principle for each other, and thus of co-operating in this accomplishment of his plan." (CCC 306) Do you believe Gods action in your life and that through your cooperation he will bring near others? Seek and do the will of the Almighty Potter. Say a prayer of surrender to the LORD's will today. Saturday"I am the Lord""God said to Moses, I AM WHO AM. This is what you will say to the sons of Israel: ' I AM sent me to you'. God then said to Moses, 'You will say to the Israelites : 'Yahweh, The God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has sent me.' That will be my name forever, and by this name they shall call upon me for all generations to come." (Exodus 3: 14-15) Our LORD is the GOD of the past, present and future. "Obedience of faith" to believe and bear witness to HIM, Do you love God with "all your heart, mind, soul and strength, so to be able to do his will, trusting Him?
