Objective of the week: To teach to others everything we have learned from Jesus
IntroductionFor the past weeks, we have been trying to re-read all our experiences in the eyes of the Resurrection and with the Risen Lord. We have become one with Him in the New Life we have received. We are now witnesses of His Resurrection and He invites us to enter in the same joy He has in making disciples and teaching others all what he has taught us. We are reminded how Jesus himself in his public life, always looked for ways to be able to teach the people. He wants them to be saved by their coming to the knowledge of the fullness of the truth. Let us pray this week, allowing ourselves to be taught by Him and renewing once again this desire to be brought to his ways. ‘Lord, teach me your way.’ Let this be our prayer each day so that we can bring so many people to learn from Him and eventually bring them to salvation. Let us face the challenge to be teachers in this generation who are witnessing strongly the power of the risen life. …the Church today needs more witnesses than teachers, and especially teachers who are authentic witnesses. (cf. Evangelii Nuntiandi 41) MondayTeach me Lord your way 4 DIRECT me in your ways, Yahweh, and teach me your paths. 5 ENCOURAGE me to walk in your truth and teach me since you are the God who saves me. FOR my hope is in you all day long -- such is your generosity, Yahweh. (Psalm 25:4-5) 10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your generous spirit lead me on even ground. (Psalm 143:10) 8 I shall instruct you and teach you the way to go; I shall not take my eyes off you. (Psalm 32:8) The first step is the renewal of our desire to be taught by Jesus the ways of the Risen Life. We have been taught a lot and we have learned so much. How strong is my desire to take Jesus as my only teacher each day? TuesdayTeach them all I gave you(Memorial St. Anselm) 19 Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.' (Matthew 28:19-20) 31 But you yourself stay here with me, and I shall tell you all the commandments, the laws and the customs which you are to teach them and which they are to observe in the country which I am giving them as their possession." 32 'Keep them and put them into practice: such is Yahweh's command to you. Stray neither to right nor to left. (Deuteronomy 5:31-32) 18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a sign and on your forehead as a headband. 19 Teach them to your children, and keep on telling them, when you are sitting at home, when you are out and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up. 20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestors that he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth. (Deuteronomy 11:18-21) We are invited today to be aware of all we have been taught and to be creative in teaching them to the people especially the challenge of applying them to this generation. How concerned am I in teaching all what He has given me? WednesdayJesus always taught the crowd 34 So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length. (Mark 6:34) Again he began to teach them by the lakeside, but such a huge crowd gathered round him that he got into a boat on the water and sat there. The whole crowd were at the lakeside on land. 2 He taught them many things in parables, (Mark 4:1-2) Jesus always looked for ways in order to form the people and teach them the ways of the Lord. In whatever occasion, he takes every opportunity to teach them many things. Do I use every opportunity I have to teach the people around me? ThursdayA teaching that calls for discipleship (Memorial of St. George) 3 many peoples will come to it and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths.' (Isaiah 2:3) 17 As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" 18 Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. 19 You know the commandments: 'You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother.'" 20 He replied and said to him, "Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth." 21 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, "You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to (the) poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." 22 At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. 23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!" (Mark 10:17-23) 13 You call me 'teacher' and 'master,' and rightly so, for indeed I am. 14 If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. 15 I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. (John 13:13-15) The teaching of Jesus is a teaching that calls for discipleship – that calls to be like Him. Does my teaching the ways of Christ making me become more like Him? Let us ask the Lord to renew our intentions. FridayA teaching that saves 16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you will save both yourself and those who listen to you. (1 Timothy 4:16) 19 if you are confident that you are a guide to the blind and a beacon to those in the dark, 20 that you can teach the ignorant and instruct the unlearned because the Law embodies all knowledge and all truth- 21 so then, in teaching others, do you teach yourself as well? (Romans 2:19-21) 13 I shall teach the wicked your paths, and sinners will return to you. (Psalm 51:13) We have experienced being saved many times from the teaching we have received from Him because His teaching brings all people to salvation. With this same intention, let us rescue people and bring them to a deeper life of saving others. SaturdayTeach each other as witnesses of the Resurrection16 Let the Word of Christ, in all its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise each other, in all wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God; 17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:16-17) 26 but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. (John 14:26) As for you, my dear son, take strength from the grace which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Pass on to reliable people what you have heard from me through many witnesses so that they in turn will be able to teach others. (2 Timothy 2:1-2) As a Family, let us teach and learn from one another all what we have received from Christ. Let us be witnesses constantly listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit and teaching others to do the same. Sunday4th Sunday of Easter1st Reading: Acts 4:8-12
