"My sheep listen to my voice and they follow me" (c.f. John 10:27) Jubilee Year 50 Years in Your Word 3rd Week of Easter - April 15-21, 2013 Introduction We're now at the 3rd week of Easter and we continue to live out our new and resurrected life in Christ. Last week, we deepened on how Christ has appeared to his disciples in many occasions, including the time they went back fishing at Lake Tiberias. Jesus is showing to us how he is with us, alive and resurrected, and he wants us to stay with him. This week, he continues to invite us to persevere in this new life that we have with him. He has already given us eternal life (c.f. Jn 10:28) and now our lives have been renewed. Jesus is asking us "Recognize me in your everyday life. I am with you in every moment." In our main passage this week on John 10:27-30, Jesus is asking us to listen and recognize his voice. "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." As we follow Jesus in this new life, let us learn how to listen to his voice in every moment. Like the beloved disciple who recognized Jesus and said "It is the Lord" (c.f. Jn 21:7), Jesus is also inviting us to be the same; that in the midst of the everyday challenges, distractions and difficulties, may we be able to listen to the Good Shepherd calling us to stay with him. May this week also encourage us to be like Stephen, that in the midst of the difficulties in sharing the Word of God, he was humble and allowed the Holy Spirit to speak through him. "it was the Spirit that prompted what he said" (c.f. Acts 6:8-15). John 10:27-30 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never die. No one can snatch them away from me. 29 What my Father has given me is greater than everything, and no one can snatch them away from the Father's care. 30 The Father and I are one.” You may also follow the Liturgy for this week (readings for the mass) Read it at http://www.universalis.com/mass.htm Comment below for your prayers and reflections.
