Last weekend, was indeed a celebration of a commitment between many and Him, to form a Family. And, just like a new family, a young couple, we are out of money : ) We need to organize, we need to work, we need to have the strength to fight for the best future of our Family. We have been in love with the Verbum Dei, now it is time to put a ring on it. There were many chances to commit to the Verbum Dei mission, there were many commit(tees). I think of the example of a couple who recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. I wonder how far can we go as Verbum Dei Family, if we commit ourselves within the several committees for as long as 25 years. Imagine what we can achieve with 25 years of active and faithful service in our committees.
I didn't marry my wife because she is perfect, but because I love her in her little imperfections, even when they make my blood boil and lose my patience. She loves me as I am, and as we live together, share our decisions together, struggle through finance troubles together, share together the responsibility of the life of our son. Together we make ourselves perfect, where alone we would fail.
Though it may seem like a work that is out of our reach. We say yes, knowing that it is Him who builds and we are only tools in the hands of God. Even when we sleep, He will still working. He is our Rock. In Cebu there are many new buildings being built, there are many expensive condos for sale and exclusive sub-divisions. We, as Verbum Dei, are also building something new, but we are not exclusive and the seats at our common table are for free. This wedding is open for all. And, even if no one will respond to the invitation, Jesus will go out on the streets and call others. This Family will grow, today (as long as "today" means us), we are seeing the Scriptures coming true. Pick up readings from Acts and you will read them as if they are meant for us, today. Growing communities of faithful, where they shared with an open heart. Jesus was at their center through the Apostles, and the deacons would serve the tables. After the weekend, we continue praying for one another, that we shall all be worthy of this calling, to be at service in this Family, with a humble and obedient heart, just like Mary, who was obedient, even in the middle of doubts and troubles.
