Put out into the deep water! There are so many reasons not to listen to God’s call and to refuse his invitation, but when God choose you what is impossible becomes possible. I attended a retreat last weekend and it was my first time to attend a silent retreat. I was being taught that for me to encounter Jesus I have to be open, I have to take out my fear, and ask him to teach me and to show me who really is he. And the invitation for me was to go into the deep water, to go deep with my relationship with him. Before I was asking myself how can I encounter God, how can I talk to him as if he is just in front of me talking to me as if I’m talking to a real man. And it’s just so amazing that I was able to experience that during my retreat on that very night. I was able to ask God so many questions, express my thoughts and showed to him my feelings. But was makes it so amazing is that God answered me. God told me that I am his treasure and I am precious to him and he wants me to follow him because I am very important for him and he loves me very much. Hearing that from God felt so wonderful. It was the happiest and most peaceful night in my entire life. I was able to go to bed with a smile in my face. I can say that it was the best decision I've made to join the silent retreat and I’m Looking forward for more encounter with the Lord. What I’ve also learned is that God wants us to lose our control and let him be the one to control our life. We just have to have trust and confidence with him, to have courage and not to be afraid whatever life may lead us because he will always be with us in our journey. God loves us so much and he deserves a love as well, God only wants our time and love for him. He doesn’t want our sacrifice but he wants our love. We don’t only give love to God but we need to be in love with God. Mayoung =) May Oyao is a Verbum Dei disciple and is part of the working singles group.
